Bio
Carlos and Petrona are parents of 5 children and have 6 grandchildren. They arrived in Canada in 1988 from Nicaragua. Carlos is a lawyer by profession and practised for 8 years, including work as a defender of human rights. He completed his studies in theology at ETEM in 2000.
This church is composed mainly of people from Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Honduras, El Salvador, Ecuador and Peru. Many young people and young families are part of this congregation. Emphasis is placed on family relations and the education of the children in order to relieve and to respond to the problems of families broken by divorce and by shared-custody situations. Services take place in Spanish since many people who attend do not understand French.
On the island of Montreal, the number of people who identify themselves as Latin American is around 90, 000. An large number of recent immigrants to Montreal are from Latin America. Approximately 10, 000 Spanish-speaking people live in the area around the church.
