Dwight and Jessica Bernier moved to Montreal in late 2010 to plant a missional community, with anticipation that it would grow, multiply, and start some sort of little organic movement of disciples in many places living their ordinary lives with gospel intentionality.

Since the beginning, that one community has continued to multiply into what it is today – Church 21 Montreal (and by God’s grace will keep growing). It is comprised of missional communities in English and French, reaching different demographics and areas of the city.

Their vision is to see Church 21 plant many churches in Montreal and the surrounding region. They are doing this through a church planting residency program that will assess, train, equip, and send out church planters. The Berniers, like many others, want to see Montreal saturated with gospel families of missionary servants. The Berniers have three children, Nehemiah, Malachi, and Sadie. They live in downtown Montreal.
