Bio

Joel grew up in O’Leary, Prince Edward Island (PEI), and Kia grew up in Monticello, Maine. They both grew up in small town churches with their families being very involved in the church. They both decided to follow Jesus and be baptized at a young age. Kia and Joel attended and met at Kingswood University in New Brunswick (NB), Canada (formerly Bethany Bible College). They did a ministry program together, and grew to understand that their lives were meant to be together doing ministry. Joel continued his education at Maritime Christian College in Charlottetown, PEI (B.A. Bible, ’07) and Kia became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN,’05 ) at Holland College, PEI. Also, Joel recently completed a Master of Arts in Bible and Theology from Lincoln Christian University (’15).

It was at Maritime Christian Fellowship (MCF) in PEI almost 10 years ago, with Jim Tune as the speaker, that Joel started to receive his initial calling into church planting. Joel and Kia have spent the last 8 years ministering at the Leonardville Church of Christ (in NB). Joel gained valuable ministry and life experience. The truth and transformation of God has worked in their lives and in the Church they have ministered to. The Bridges’ heard Jim speak again at MCF in New Brunswick last summer, and they discussed the possibility of church planting in Moncton. Jim and Claudia Tune had discussions with Joel and Kia and interviews via Skype over the last year. The Bridges went through the assessment process several months ago, and were approved to plant the new church in Moncton. Impact Canada is excited to announce that Joel and Kia Bridges will be planting a church in the Moncton area — anticipated to launch next Fall 2016. The Bridges family have moved into the area.
