C2C Alberta
Alberta is the most populous of the three Prairie Provinces with over 3.6 Million residents with 81% of Albertans living in cities, with the population concentrated along the Calgary-Edmonton corridor. Ten of the 15 census agglomerations with the strongest population growth between 2006 and 2011 are located in Alberta. It has experienced a strong economy and its natural beauty makes it a magnet for tourism.
It follows BC as the second province with most “nones”; those claiming no religious affiliation whatsoever. 40% of Canada’s international students choose to pursue their studies in Alberta; this is a significant immigration pathway, as half of all students indicate that they want to stay in Alberta on conclusion of their studies.
The material wealth, independence and self-reliance of Albertans represent challenges for the planting of the gospel in this strategic province.
